I proudly describe my work as Identity Art, the focus being the intersection of masculinity, sexuality and placement.

I'm inspired by such greats as Ruud Van Empel, Deborah Roberts and Frank Bowling but my work is very much influenced by my upbringing, personal experiences and this country I call home.

The bulk of my artwork takes the form of digital collage and is created using original photography, archival and found images, typography, wallpaper, and textiles.

Artspeak:

George Dyer is a London based artist who uses collage as a vehicle to explore the intersection of masculinity, sexuality and spatial identity. His practice considers the constraints imposed upon black and brown men, but also recognises and celebrates the potential, achievement and worth of this often misrepresented ethnic group. He draws reference from memory and personal experiences, but also from the systems and attitudes (both historic and current) that play into the reductive process of othering.
